Being able to assign each individual student an assignment that helps support their learning has been a great tool to ensure progress for the student. Tools such as Web 2.0 are great tools to use for students’ learning, however, teaching digital citizenship to students is key to keeping the use of technology and online resources used in a proper manner.
As your child’s teacher, I feel it is important to teach the correct ways of searching the Internet for reliable sources and the correct ways of handling inappropriate content a student may come in contact with through the Internet. I would emphasize to my students to choice web link ending in the domain .edu and .gov to stay on reliable websites. I would also teach my students that if they are directed to a website that is inappropriate they should click on the back button or turn the computer monitor off. Students would also be taught that they should report to a trusted adult what they were directed to on their computer. Being safe is always key to success and my desire is to see each student successful.
